This
paper is an attempt to analyze various planting options to take the right decisions
in crop planning. All the effective factors have been considered, with the
irrigation factor being the main focus - as water is the biggest challenge in
the DongaonMazar – a village of Marathwada region.
This paper proposes a decision-support model, which applies multi-criteria analysis
to prioritize alternatives options for the plantation. Organizational background,
conditions requirements have been studied for prioritizing four categories of
planting patterns including seasonal farming, yearly farming, biennial farming
and perennial farming.
The
results demonstrate that perennial farming pattern represents the highest
ranking, followed by biennial farming, seasonal farming, and yearly farming. The
proposed multi-criteria analysis can be used for advising decision-makers in the
areas of acute rainfall, especially those of the Marathwada region.
